So we all should know by now – I’m a sucker for spending my wages on makeup, yes it kind of happened again, nothing new there! Please tell me I’m not alone!
I picked up two colours of the L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick. I did go online shortly after purchasing to find they had more shades available which they didn’t have in my local Boots, which sadly I would have preferred some of the other colours if I’m honest.
None the less I really wanted to try them out and see if they would be any good. The packaging is kept simple yet classy. Its made of frosted plastic (I don’t think its glass) and you can see the colour through it, with a black lid with the gold plaque with the brand name on there, so overall I’m a fan of the way it looks, also the applicator is really nice, its heart shaped dofer makes it really easy to apply as it fits with the shape of your lips so you can get right in there to make sure every inch is covered.
The first one I picked up was in the shade ‘I Rule’,
I swatched it on my hand in store and it did seem to go on really nicely, it didn’t seem patchy or like you would need a lot of coats to make the colour pop. However when I got home and I tried the lipstick on – sadly I was a little disappointed. I found I had to apply 2-3 coats for it to be true to colour, it seems very sheer.
The other colour I picked up was in the shade ‘I Empower’, which is more of a gingerbread colour, its a peachy/orange which I do have a shade similar in the New Look matt liquid lipstick which I did a blog on if you wanted to go check that out (hint, hint – nudge, nudge) and although the swatch came out perfectly fine with this colour aswell, the application on my lips didn’t – unless you build the product up with a few coats which ideally you wouldn’t want to have to do.
The lipsticks retail at £7.99 which isn’t bad at all…here are a few things it says about the product:
- Unapologetically bold colour with super lightweight finish.
- Oil-in-water formula lets lips breathe.
- Ultra-lightweight, bare lip sensation.
- Lasts for up to 24hrs.
- No flaking, no smudging, no drying out.
Now I don’t know if this would be the same for everyone but this is just what happens when I apply it, I just find I need to apply more coats then I feel I should technically need?! Maybe I’m being too fussy – I don’t know.
Its definitely a lightweight formula and it doesn’t feel drying at all which is really nice so there is some plus sides to this product and I did find that it is long lasting which helps if your going to be out most of the day/night.
I would like to try the darker shades like the plum and the red, just to see if they would apply any differently, so I may purchase those in the near future (ahem – payday).
Let me know if you guys have tried this product and if so what shade did you go for and what did you think of it?
Thanks so much for reading my lovely ones and ill speak to you all soon ♥
